Biliary excretion of cadmium.

چکیده
Biliary excretion of cadmium was studied in two groups of five rats which were given repeated injections of 109Cd. The first group was given a total amount of 6 mg Cd/kg which was 6 times as much as the second group. The elimination of cadmium in bile, urine, and feces was measured 4 to 5 weeks after the last injection. The relative biliary excretion of cadmium was the same in both groupetion, which was 0.001% but, less than the total fecal elimination of cadmium, which averaged 0.034% during the same time.

The effect of dietary zinc status on biliary metal excretion of rats.
The effect of dietary zinc status on biliary excretion of zinc, cadmium and mercury administered as a bolus of metal chloride (1 mg metal/kg body weight i.v.) was studied. Female rats were fed a purified diet containing either 9 micrograms/g (low), 45 micrograms/g (adequate) or 1150 micrograms/g (high) zinc for 8 d. Hepatic metallothionein (MT) was similar in low- and adequate-zinc groups, but ...

N-(2,3-Dimercaptopropyl) phthalamidic acid (DMPA), meso-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA), and 2,3-dimercapto-1-propanesulfonic acid (DMPS) are dithiol chelating agents with antidotal activity for lead, mercury, arsenic, and other heavy metals. The biliary excretion of these compounds was studied in male Sprague-Dawley rats. After iv administration of DMPA, 72% of the injected dose was recovered i...

متن کاملHepatobiliary excretion of 99mTc-EC: A potential source of mistake in the interpretation of renal scintigraphy
A 10-year-old boy with a history of bloody discoloration of urine following recent appendectomy was referred to our department for urinary leakage/fistula evaluation. A renal Technetium-99m-L,L-ethylenedicysteine (99mTc-EC) scintigraphy was performed. After injection of radiotracer, a focus of activity appeared in the supralateral part of the right kidney which was confirmed as accum...
متن کاملChelation of cadmium without increased renal cadmium deposition.
Cadmium (Cd) is mainly accumulated in liver and kidney bound to metallothionein (MT) and excreted very slowly from the body. In chronic exposure, Cd is gradually transported from liver to kidney; the renal toxic effects appear when renal Cd concentration exceeds the critical concentration. In order to prevent the Cd-induced renal disease, it is important to control the movement of Cd to the kid...
